When my daughter started elementary school in Japan, I became worried about her English literacy skills. I couldn’t find any local teachers, and I decided to looking for an online teacher. I thought of Lisa right away because we had known each other since graduate school, and I thought she would get along well with my daughter. She agreed to give it a try even though she had not really focused on teaching children online before. From then on, every Sunday morning, Lisa spent an hour on Skype with my daughter teaching her how to read, but it became a lot more than that. From Lisa, my daughter was learning about history, geography, and culture. She was developing an appreciation for English, not just as a communication tool, but as a new way to learn about the world. Now, my daughter is in the 8th grade, and they still have lessons every Sunday. By the way, my son began taking lessons from Lisa a few years later.
